enRoute, Air Canada's award-winning in-flight magazine, has for more than a decade published an influential annual ranking of Canada's top 10 new restaurants. In 2013, I was tasked with the cross-country mission of eating at 35 tasty spots that had opened in the past year, and then – after waiting at least 30 minutes, to avoid cramping – of chronicling my discoveries. 

My story earned recognition with two National Magazine Awards, a Gold in the category "Editorial Package: Web" and a Silver in "Service: Lifestyle."
