enRoute, Air Canada's award-winning in-flight magazine, has for nearly two decades published an influential annual ranking of Canada's top 10 new restaurants.

In 2017, the editors were crazy enough to send me out on the road for a fifth year, matching Chris Johns for the longest run in the program's history. I guess we're both equally masochistic now.

I ate my way across Canada, hitting up more than 30 new restaurant recommended by enRoute's panel of food-world insiders and eventually distilling all those meals into a Top 10. This year, Battuto in Quebec City took home the grand prix, joined on the podium by Canis in Toronto and Bar Von Der Fels in Calgary.

The print feature appeared in enRoute's November 2017 issue. Click here to read the full story online.
